About Rebecca

Rebecca Starford was born in Melbourne, Australia. She is the author of Bad Behaviour, a memoir about boarding school and bullying, published in 2015.

Rebecca’s first novel, An Unlikely Spy (known as The Imitator in Australia and New Zealand), is out now in the USA, Canada, the UK and South Africa.

She is also the co-founder and publishing director of Kill Your Darlings, and has previously worked for Text Publishing and Affirm Press. She is currently a freelance editor and creative writing teacher.

Rebecca lives in Brisbane with her partner, son and many pets. She is a PhD candidate at the University of Queensland.
